Abstract
Based on the list of attachments No. KH. 00.01.432.6081 dated August 1,
2007 by BPOM, there are several cosmetic preparations, for example lipstick that
is drawn because it contains dangerous dyes such as Rhodamin B. Young teak
leaves contain several pigment compounds, especially anthocyanin. This
anthocyanin compound gives red, purple, and dark red. Based on this, the
researchers wanted to find out whether young teak leaf extract could be used as a
good dye in lipstick formulations and to find out how the physical quality of
lipstick preparations using teak leaf extract.
The researchers made lipstick formulations with 3 different concentrations.
Lipstick I formulation with a concentration of teak leaf extract as much as 17%,
lipstick formulation II with a concentration of teak leaf extract as much as 19%
and lipstick formulation III with a concentration of teak leaf extract as much as
21%. Then each formulation was carried out research on the physical quality test
of lipstick, including organoleptic test as a preliminary test, melting point test,
stability test preparation, irritation test, pH preparation test, lipstick hardness test,
and homogeneity test.
From the research results, teak leaf extract can be used as a coloring agent
in lipstick preparations and physical quality test results that meet the
requirements, organoleptic test, melting point test, pH test, irritation test, lipstick
hardness test, and homogeneity test, while stability test does not meet the
requirements.
