Abstract

Aromatherapy candles are a method of treatment through odor media
originating from certain plants, aromatherapy is often combined since thousands
of years ago (initially only in the form of essential liquids). One that is often used
is aromatherapy candles. The formulation of the problem in this study is how to
make aromatherapy candles with differences in the addition of stearic acid, and
the melting point and hedonic tests are performed.
Based on SNI 0386-1989-A / SII 0348-1980 is a melting point test and a
hedonic test which includes the first detection of aroma, the effect of wax and the
aroma and color preference test.
The results of the aromatherapy candle melting point test with different
formulations of stearic acid composition meet the requirements of SNI 0386-
1989-A / SII 0348-1980 that is in the range of 50-58 ° C, and from the hedonic
test parameters the best wax quality in the first aroma detection test Kali namely
wax formulation of 3 scents of greentea, the most candles that cause fresh effects
are candles with scents of lemon and greentea, in the organoleptic test that is
candles with vanilla scents and white color is most preferred by panelists
